Print Faculty and Alumni in Tacoma Art Museum Exhibition

PNCA Print Department faculty and alumni well represented in important Print Arts survey exhibition at Tacoma Art Museum.

A broad survey of print work at the Tacoma Art Museum, Ink This! Contemporary Print Arts in the Northwest, points up just how prominent a role PNCA’s Print Department plays in the landscape of print arts in the Pacific Northwest. The exhibition features work by all current faculty members—Kate Copeland, Yoshihiro Kitai, Palmarin Merges, Abra Ancliffe, Morgan Walker, and Matthew Letzelter—as well as former department chairs Tom Prochaska and Christy Wyckoff, and alumni Sheryl Funkhouser, George Johanson, and Anthony Roberto.

Works in the exhibition showcase a wide variety of printmaking techniques, from time-honored processes such as etching and lithography through installation and digital media. It includes letterpress artists (those that use hand-set type and block-cut imagery to create a variety of works) and artists who hand make books that are in essence small sculptures built to showcase images and artistic techniques.

The exhibition is on view through October 19, 2014.
