Last summer, Wren Sauer, now a senior Design Arts major with a concentration in Illustration, was one of 10 college students nationwide selected to work with Adobe’s creative team. While in the Bay Area, Martin French, Chair of Communication Design, paid Sauer a visit at Adobe world HQ in the midst of her internship in summer 2014. Sauer gave French a tour of the Adobe facilities, showed the work she had been creating, introduced her design group colleagues, and it was clear to French that Sauer was a standout in her group of interns.

Over the summer Sauer led a workshop on how to use Adobe Illustrator that was attended and viewed online by over 200+ employees, and also has created numerous images that will appear online for Adobe tutorials. Sauer’s illustration work can be viewed at the beginning of a Photoshop tutorial on Adobe’s website depicting deer against an orange sky. Sauer cites her experience at PNCA as preparing her well for the internship. She has also hired three of her friends from school for freelance projects. Sauer continues to work with Adobe remotely during her senior year at PNCA, and has been recommended for a full-time spot after graduation.

Adobe, Intel, and Wieden+Kennedy are just some of the international design firms that work with PNCA students. Students having the opportunity to work in a professional environment with leading businesses while developing skills to work in creative teams is an important part of PNCA’s commitment to prepare students for a thriving life of creative practice.
