Lou Watson, an Intermedia undergraduate, has been accepted into the 41st Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival and awarded the John Cage Prize for Synesthesia by photographer and co-founder of Blue Sky Gallery, Christopher Rauschenberg. Rauschenberg gives praise to Watson’s work writing, “This film made me jealous that I didn’t make it myself.” Watson explains that her work focus amplifies commonplace moments in the everyday environment and commuting. In Watson’s film, Commute, the view overlooking a Sandy Boulevard intersection includes vehicles and walker. Each moment is punctuated with a strong staccato note on the piano. Watson’s work will be showing at the festival on December 9, 2014.
